Reference Materials

SDC publishes a reference manual for each of the three platforms:

  • SilverEngine Development Reference
  • SilverPlus Development Reference
  • SilverC Programming Reference

The functionality that is common to the three platforms is described in the API reference manual:

  • SilverScreen API Reference

The SilverScreen reference manual contains a comprehensive guide to the SilverScreen Solid Modeler:

  • SilverScreen Reference Manual

To assist the developer in learning and understanding SilverScreen, a tutorial textbook is available:

  • Getting Started with SilverScreen

The developer reference manuals are available both on-line and in printed form. These manuals includes material for SilverEngine, SilverPlus, SilverC, and the SilverScreen API.  The SilverScreen Reference Manual and Getting Started with SilverScreen are only available in printed format.

Reference Materials On-line

The development reference materials can be viewed (and printed) below. Some of the manuals are quite large. If you do not have a high speed connection, it may be better to download the zip file and view the manuals off-line. (See next section.)

Should you decide to view the manuals off-line, here is a suggestion as to how this may be done:

  1. Create a directory;
  2. Download the zip file (silver.zip) into this directory;
  3. Unzip the files from silver.zip into this directory;
  4. With your browser, open the file silver.htm.

QuickStart with SilverScreen

The QuickSilver manual gives a short introduction to the basics of the SilverScreen Solid Modeler.  The QuickTutor manual will take you step-by-step through a design.  These manuals are stored in an Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) files. To open, view, and print these files, Adobe Acrobat Reader must first be installed on your computer.

ToolKit

Developers may purchase a 30-day trial toolkit to explore SilverScreen application development. The toolkit CD contains the Professional Version of the SilverScreen Solid Modeler (in both Debug and Release versions) and SilverEngine (also in Debug and Release). The CD also contains sample applications for SilverEngine, SilverPlus and SilverC.

Six reference manuals accompany the CD:

Title Pages
SilverScreen API Reference 260
SilverEngine Development Reference 30
SilverPlus Development Reference 30
SilverC Programming Reference 100
SilverScreen Reference Manual 900
Getting Started with SilverScreen 130

The price of the toolkit and manuals is $95. The toolkit uses 30-day software locking. At the end of the 30 day period, the developer may elect to purchase SilverScreen or to enter into a licensing agreement with SDC.

To order the toolkit, contact SDC, either by phone, fax, or e-mail.
